Hortherapeutics offers curated nature-based programmes for seniors across a range of functional ability, from Active Ageing Centres (AACs) to nursing homes. Our programming is flexible and includes a mix of facilitated nature immersion and centre-based activities that run the gamut from planting, exploring our culinary heritage and nature-based craft.

PCF Sparklecare Active Ageing Centre

Our Social and Therapeutic Horticulture programme with PCF Sparklecare Active Ageing Centre combines nature immersion with cultural nature expressions to support holistic wellness among seniors. Participants alternate between guided nature walks and indoor sessions that build upon their outdoor experiences, deepening their connection to nature through reflection, storytelling, and hands-on engagement. This approach nurtures mindfulness, reinforces cultural identity, and encourages meaningful interaction with the natural world. Through the programme, we help seniors cultivate a sense of purpose, belonging, and well-being by connecting with nature in intentional and restorative ways.

AWWA

Our collaboration with AWWA Active Ageing Centre on their Social and Therapeutic Horticulture programme beganwith a series of purposeful gardening sessions in their outdoor garden, where seniors nurtured edible plants while fostering well-being and social connection. These hands-on sessions encouraged participants to share knowledge, build confidence, and find joy in growing their own food. The programme then transitioned indoors, continuing with table-top gardening and cultural nature expressions that build on their outdoor experiences. This integrated approach supports physical, emotional, and social wellness through meaningful engagement with nature.

Presbyterian Eldercare

In partnership with Presbyterian Community Services Active Ageing Centre, we run an indoor Social and Therapeutic Horticulture programme featuring purposeful gardening and cultural nature expressions. Seniors engage in hands-on indoor gardening while learning about the science behind growing edible plants in enclosed spaces. The programme also introduces healthy recipes using their harvest, alongside nature craft that encourage creativity and connection. Designed with wellness in mind, each session supports physical, mental, and social well-being through meaningful interaction with nature.
